リトルトーキョーデザインウィーク： フューチャー・シティ（LTDW）は、日本から発信される最先端デザインとテクノロジーのパワーとエネルギー、そしてロサンゼルスで生まれつつあるトレンドとの交換をコンセプトとしたイベントである。
「より持続可能で創造的な都市生活へと私たちを導くデザインの力」が、推定30,000人の参加者を集めたこの4日間のフェスティバルの中心テーマであった。南カリフォルニア地域および日本からのデザイナー、アーティスト、建築家、映画制作者、学生たちが集まり、リトルトーキョーの街全体にまたがるインスタレーションやイベントを通して、「新しい都市ライフスタイル」の可能なシナリオを探求した。
LTDWは、リトル東京のビッグ3の文化施設（全米日系人博物館、日系文化会館、MOCAゲフェン）と、街に設置された２０のコンテナによる仮設ミュージアム、コミュニティ・パートナー、小売店、レストランなどを会場として、一連のプログラムを開催した。フェスティバル期間中、デザイン、テクノロジー、環境の各分野の先進的な才能をフィーチャーした様々なイベントやシンポジウムがリトル東京のあちこちで開催され、LTDWのエキサイティングなスケジュールに貢献した。
Little Tokyo Design Week: Future City (LTDW) was conceptualized as an exchange between the power and energy of cutting-edge design and technology from Japan and the trends emerging in Los Angeles.
The central theme of the four-day festival, which drew an estimated 30,000 attendees, was "The Power of Design to Lead Us to a More Sustainable and Creative Urban Life. Designers, artists, architects, filmmakers, and students from the Southern California region and Japan gathered to explore possible scenarios for a "new urban lifestyle" through installations and events spanning the entire city of Little Tokyo.
LTDW hosted a series of programs at Little Tokyo's Big Three cultural institutions (the Japanese American National Museum, the Japanese American Cultural Center, and MOCA Geffen), as well as 20 containerized temporary museums, community partners, retail stores, and restaurants located throughout the city. During the festival, a variety of events and symposiums featuring progressive talent in the fields of design, technology, and the environment were held throughout Little Tokyo, contributing to the exciting LTDW schedule.
