この復興住宅の建築デザインは、フレキシブルな居住スペースが中心となっています。この地域に昔からあるショットガン・ハウスの形式を発展させ、間取りを生活に柔軟に適応させる能力を提供しています。この設計の多様性により、さまざまな構成が可能になり、世代を超えた家族の生活形態の変化に対応することができ、カスタマイズ可能なオプション一式が居住者に提供されます。このプロジェクトでは、家族の人数や経済的背景など多様なニーズに対応するため、45種類のプランが用意されています。この多様性は、順応性のある持続可能な生活を可能とします。

Supported by the Make It Right Foundation, the recovery homes were proposed as a beacon of resiliency and adaptability in housing design. Located in the Lower 9th Ward of New Orleans, the project involved the design and construction of innovative recovery homes, each measuring 1,800 square meters in size.
Flexible living spaces are at the heart of the architectural design of these revival homes. It evolves from the region’s traditional shotgun house format, providing the ability to flexibly adapt the floor plan to living arrangements. This design versatility allows for a variety of configurations and accommodates changing family living patterns across generations, providing residents with a complete set of customizable options. The project offers 45 different plans to meet the diverse needs of different family sizes and economic backgrounds. This diversity allows for adaptable and sustainable living.
As a striking example of architectural innovation after a natural disaster, Reconstruction Housing highlights the importance of green building. This project not only meets the immediate housing needs of the Lower 9th Ward, but also establishes a benchmark for future development of disaster resilient housing. This approach reflects progressive thinking in architectural design, prioritizing both sustainability and the well-being of residents.
