「xLAB サマープログラム」は、建築デザインの学際的な教育プラットフォームとして、2017年から3年間、新建築社、東京大学及び日本科学未来館との共同で開催されました。15の大学から19名の学生、12名の教員、そしてテクノロジー、サイエンス、ファッション、政策、ビジネスなど多様な分野から20名以上の業界関係者が集まり東京で行われたこの2週間のプログラムは、実験的な学習とアイデアの交換のための非階層的で実験室のような環境を提供しました。xLABサマープログラムは毎年、都市デザインの現代的課題を反映した新しいテーマに焦点を当てています。これまでのテーマには、都市環境における社会的側面と共同スペースに焦点を当てた2017年の「コミュニティ」、都市内のダイナミックな移動と連結性を検証する2018年の「モビリティ」、などがあります。これらのテーマは、学際的なレンズを通して、多様で差し迫った建築や都市の課題を探求するというプログラムのコミットメントを強調しています。
2019年のテーマは「東京におけるレジリエンスの再定義」で、技術的、社会的、環境的要因による都市環境の急速な変化と課題への取り組みに重点が置かれた。参加者は、学際的な教授陣の指導の下、スタジオプロジェクトに取り組み、東京の新しいレジリエンス戦略を検討しています。また、プログラムには6人の国際的な専門家によるセミナーも含まれ、多様な視点からの刺激的な対話が行われました。各チームは、中間審査と最終審査のセッションで研究内容と戦略を発表し、地域的なアプローチから包括的なマスタープランまで、さまざまな解決策を模索しました。

The 2019 theme, "Redefining Resilience in Tokyo," focused on addressing the rapid changes and challenges in the urban environment caused by technological, social, and environmental factors. Participants worked on studio projects under the guidance of interdisciplinary faculty to examine new resilience strategies for Tokyo. The program also included seminars with six international experts, which provided stimulating dialogue from a variety of perspectives. Teams presented their research and strategies in mid-term and final review sessions, exploring a range of solutions from regional approaches to comprehensive master plans.
